On Tuesday, September 22, we left Bethel and traveled along Rte 2 to 201 to Jackman, ME. We were going to stay a week at "John's Four Seasons RV Park", which looked good on the web and was one of the few parks still open with full hookups near Moosehead Lake. Thankfully, we decided to stay only 3 days (at a rate that kept changing each time we talked to the owner). Except for the little pond behind our site and cable tv, the place is a run-down dump!
On the way up, there were gorgeous lakes and rivers. At a rest area, we had a beautiful view of the islands in Lake Attean. You can tell how windy it was by seeing Charlie Dog's ears--looks as though he's about to get airborne!
The owner of Four Seasons told us we might be able to see some moose about 10 miles north of the rv park, so we took a ride there, and we did see a female moose. You might have to double click the image to enlarge it. I didn't take much time to focus and shoot. I was a bit concerned that it might decide to charge us, like the buffalo did in Custer, SD, especially since our guard dog was growling and barking at it. We also saw a red fox as we returned to town. You might need to double click that one, too.
