More or less as a birthday celebration, we usually take a trip mid November. We are once again at Morganton, but this time we will explore Bryson City which is in North Carolina about 70 miles north.
Why Bryson City? Same reason as why the bear went over the mountain...to see what he could see. And we saw this Christmas tree with some pretty big balls! And golden reindeer. Santa had evidently made a stop at the Chamber of Commerce. But seriously, Bryson City is famous for being at the doorstep of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala National Forest...
.
On the edge of the river bank is The River's End Restaurant
The next morning back in Morganton, we saw a coffee shop named Common Grounds. We decided to have breakfast there. We didn't know it was also a GOP gift shop......with a replica of the Oval Office!
