Traveling from Troy on I-75 to the Ohio Turnpike was not our idea of fun. Once we were off the turnpike and on I-90, conditions improved and we made it to Evergreen Lake Park in Conneaut, OH, in about 4 hours which turned out to be a really nice family campground and we spent the night there. The next day, we continued to I-86 and on to I-88 thru Pennsylvania into New York. We couldn't believe what a nice ride it ended up to be for the 350 miles we drove. The road was newly paved, there was very little traffic, and the scenery was gorgeous as we drove along the Alleghany River and through the Seneca Nation. Wow...2000 miles only to get to Seneca again! On the reservation, diesel was only $2.72 versus $3.18 outside of it. Once again we got lucky and found a campsite in Oneonta, NY, between Binghamton and Schenectady that was one of our Passport members, and the night here with full hook up was only $20...same as at Evergreen.
Evergreen Park. We met a couple from Pittsburgh (Pam and Randy) who were traveling with in-laws. Bob (the father-in-law), has a seasonal home on Pine Island, Florida...a place well known to us. We really enjoyed exchanging travel stories with them.
I'm really not sure what the name of this large lake is, but it is outside of Jamestown. Even driving by at 65 miles an hour, this almost beats the drive to see Lake Huron!
And by the way, this was east of Poland (the city).
Here is a view of the park at Susquehanna Trail from our site.
In addition to fishing at the Otego Creek, amenities include a swimming pool, and areas for horseshoes, volleyball and a playground. On special weekends, there are also barbeques and musical festivals. But, we are here just for the night and trying to figure out where we will stop tomorrow.
