Ah, this is what we like to see.
A roadside park was a nice place to stretch our legs...Roscoe's, too.
In this part of the country, Rt 23 is known as The Country Music Highway Trail of Fame which stretches south into Georgia. Signposts along the way boast the birthplaces of well known artists such as Patty Loveless, Loretta Lynn and Dwight Yoakum.
The University of Pikeville is in the center of downtown.
Their team name is The Bears, which are displayed on various street corners.
Pikeville's main claim to fame is probably that it's where the Hatfield-McCoy feud took place.
We passed over "The Pikeville Cut Through Project" on the way to the campground. It took 14 years to complete this 3/4 mile channel, but it served to create a railway, a 4 lane highway, and divert a river to prevent flooding. The New York

The city's RV park is located in a large recreation complex that includes baseball and soccer fields, a dog park, ziplines, horseback riding, kayak rentals and a Y. We are staying here two nights. Tomorrow we will do some more exploring.
