Another Trip to the SC Fish Hatchery March 8 2019

It was another winter's rainy day, but Owen was visiting  Bobby and Valerie for the weekend, and we had decided he might enjoy a trip to the Walhalla trout fishery.  The rain wasn't too bad, although we didn't want to picnic there or walk around too much.
All in all, it was just  nice to get together.

The hatchery is located on the Chattooga River.  This is the east fork of the river.  A boardwalk bridge connects the picnic area to the hatchery.
Owen asks, "What rain?"
One of the hatchery rangers  shares "fish tales" with Bobby.  We were glad to get inside from the rain where there was a wood burning stove to help us warm up.  This fellow said, like the others I asked on my last visit, that this is the best job there could ever be.
Bobby hopes to say this is the one that didn't get away when he has a chance to fish the Chattooga.

Valentine's Day 2019

What more perfect way to spend  heart's day  than with long time friends?  Plish and John were in Mint Hill, southeast of Charlotte, NC, to spend a few days with their niece Lisa and her family.  Plish and I arranged to meet "halfway" at a KFC in Clinton, SC.  The meeting place was Bob's idea.  He said if we went there, or to another fast food place like it, we could probably spend a few hours without taking up a waitress's table.  He was so right.  When we got to the KFC, we told the manager we were there to meet friends who were traveling down from  New Jersey.  She was more than accommodating, and we sat and gabbed for about 3 hours.
Plish, John and me.  The poster above us shows the outline of Kentucky and above it is a chicken leg that has a very similar shape...hence the "Coincidence, I think not"
Plish, John and The Colonel.  Hope this makes up for forgetting my camera when we saw Plish and John in New Jersey last fall.  They would be leaving from Charlotte Airport on Saturday when a lot of the VIPs were arriving for the NBL Pro Game.  Luckily, they didn't have any problems (nor did they see David there).

A surprise visit February 13, 2019

Bob got a call from son David who was working in Charlotte, NC, for the NBL pro game that would be held on the weekend.  He has acted as Materials Manager for many special events like this over the past several years.  He was able to finish early this day and drove the two plus hours to spend some time with us.  It was wonderful to see him.  We had a chance to catch up and have a roast pork dinner, which was perfectly complemented by the bottle of wine he brought over.  We hoped he could stay overnight, but he needed to get back so he could have an early wake up the next morning.
Thanks for making the trip over, David!
