Despite the not so picnic like weather, we had planned on going to Big Lagoon State Park in north west Pensacola, so we went ahead with our trip. The park is about 10 miles outside of Pensacola, but it again involved a trip to the mainland over two bridges. It was very blustery, overcast, and misty, so it felt much colder than
the 60-something degrees. The park would be a gorgeous place to be on a clear day. It is about 655 acres with picnic spots and pavilions along the beach, as well as a camping area inland, a boat ramp, kayak launch area, and several elevated boardwalk trails. Across the lagoon is Perdido Key, but with visibility less than a quarter mile, there wasn't much to see, although a tri-colored heron did pay us a visit.
