Mother Nature Pays Us a Visit - September 11, 2017

Much to our surprise, we had an unwanted guest...Hurricane Irma found her way to our doorstep after wreaking havoc throughout Florida.  Thankfully, it was down graded to a tropical storm when it got here, but wind gusts of 58 mph and sustained winds of 35 were enough to get our attention.  We were very lucky.  Power went out, but was restored within a few hours.  The trees that fell and were blocking the road on the side of our house were cut and removed very quickly. Screens were blown off several of our windows, and broken limbs from a neighbor's tree narrowly missed our pool and deck.   And thankfully, our friends and family in Florida came through it safely.
Ironically, this was the sheet music I had open on my electric keyboard.
Old Glory blew westward...
 then eastward...
and then was stilled the next day.
Leaves that blew onto our porch were literally shredded.

Limbs from the neighbor's tree fell into his horse pasture behind us.
More limbs fell on our side, but didn't cause any damage.
Small branches and leaves blanketed our yard.  At least they weren't roof shingles!

This huge tree in front of the Seneca library was uprooted...
and miraculously did not cause any damage!  Thoughts are with all of those who weren't as lucky as we, and are still struggling to recover.
