It was a little warmer and less windy today. Our first stop was at the historic life saving station just north of Seashore State Park. We didn't go into the museum since we were again treating Charlie Dog to an outing, and dogs aren't allowed. Also, the site is only a replica of what was originally there. The actual station has been moved to Lewes. What was caught my attention was that this was on the Indian River, but not the same Indian River in Florida. The docent at the site said she had learned only last week that there was an Indian River in Florida. After stopping at some thrift stores looking for books for Bob, we went to the Farmer's Market in Rehoboth Beach that is held every Tuesday from noon till 4 until the end of October across from Lighthouse Circle. Almost to a year, we were on the same street, enjoying the wedding rehearsal dinner party for David and Kim Merson. The market did not have as much variety as I thought it would have, judging by the write up in the tourist guide, but it was nice, and Bob enjoyed a bratwurst sandwich there. After the market, we spent a little time on the boardwalk before heading back to camp..
"Historic" life saving station
As we neared the farmers' market, we had our first glimpse of fall colors.
Bob and Charlie near market entrance
Northern view of the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach. One scoop ice cream cones are "only" $4.50, and a small order of fries $4.95. Good thing Bob had that bratwurst and neither of us is hungry!
Southern view of boardwalk...doubt prices are any cheaper, but blue skies and white clouds sure make up for that.
Gazebo and circle at end of A1A at the beach
View of the beach from the park bench
More blue skies, sea oats, and a glimpse of the ocean
And yet another
Charlie was having a good time, too, and a lot of ladies told us how cute he is. We agree.
