On the road again. Weather has changed. Although no rain, overcast skies and sprinkles. We took US 1 to Scenic Rte 9 across the Delaware Memorial Bridge, picked up Rte 40 over to 50, down to 30 and into Galloway, about 6 miles north of Atlantic City. What could have been a 72 minute trip via ferry, or 2.5 hours by way of Atlantic City Expressway , took us 6 hours, but it was well worth it. Hardly any traffic; no big box stores, in fact almost no stores at all...where do people get groceries and gasoline around here? In some parts the road was flooded...not only from rains but also tidal water. At one point, we could see the Salem nuclear power plant across the water on the Jersey side. Bob had done x-ray welding there too many years ago to remember. There were signs warning that if a siren blared to evacuate. We kept our fingers crossed we didn't hear any. We arrived at Shady Pines RV Park around 2, and no sooner did we set up that it began to rain. It is now 9 pm Thursday, October 23, and it continues to rain on and off.

Water lined Rte 9
And more water, right outside my door. We were very careful to gauge the depth and drive slowly through the overflow, knowing how dangerous flood waters can be.
A rest area on the bay
But not so restful is the view across the bay of the nuclear power plant spewing steam into gray skies.
Almost to Jersey...crossing on the Delaware memorial Bridge.
