Visit with Family in Ohio Aug 30 - Sept 4th 2019

Friday the 30th we took Rte 23 most of the way to Mount Gilead, OH, avoiding Columbus and  most of the traffic all the way up.  We will be holing up with Bob's sister and family on their 8 acre homestead for the Labor Day weekend.
Crossing the Ohio River.. Rte 23 follows it for quite a distance.
Very hard to see, but in the background, there is an Amish neighbor in a horse pulled carriage passing down the road in front of Julie and Tony's home.  To the left is their Class B travel trailer they use to go camping and ride ATVs...they have lots of toys!
and four footed family members.  This is Niko, one of their two golden doodles.  Bob threatened to kidnap him.
Niko loves to ride on the back of Julie's atv.   Princess, Gwen's dog, wishes she could go, too.
Long story short...Bob decided to replace the second hand tv we had in the trailer with a new one.  Here he and Tony are modifying the cabinet to fit in the new flat screen.  It worked with an antenna and Bob was in tv land heaven.
Saturday afternoon, Julie had a cookout for 10 of us.  From left around table are Greg, one of her friends, husband Tony, Bob and Gwen.  Gwen lives in the mobile in the background that is on Julie and Tony's property.
Beside Greg is his wife, Joyce, and across from her is Jody, Tony's mother, who lives in a mobile on a 5 acre parcel  next to Julie and Tony's.
Here Bob is talking to Julie's dad, "Spud", who was Bob's Marine buddy from 50 years ago.  Spud and Gwen had been married, but decided they were better off being just friends.  He has been happily married to Gigi (cut off in picture) for many years and Gwen is good friends with her, too.  Behind them is more of the property that Julie and Tony own.
Spud "now"
Spud "then".  The city of Galion near Mount Gilead where Spud grew up and now lives, honored veterans by displaying their military photos on flags hung from the lamp posts down main street.
On  Labor Day, Julie had another little get together as a farewell to Sarah, a fellow nurse.  She and her boyfriend Cody decided to buy an RV and tour the country and work along the way.   Her first job as a traveling nurse will be in Greenville, NC.  Good luck, Sarah!
Before leaving, we made a stop at Mount Gilead State Park which is not far from Gwen's place.
