Atlantic City May 12 2012

We had made plans to meet at 5 pm with two of my cousins, Anne & Sherri Rose, who were spending the weekend at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City.  In the morning, we went to Egg Harbor to pick up a part for the truck brake, and back at the camp, Bob replaced the worn out part.  About 2, we went into Atlantic City, walked through the Showboat and onto the boardwalk.  We also stopped in at Trump's Taj Mahal a couple of doors down. The casinos are at the far north end of the beach, and so the boardwalk doesn't have the typical attractions like shops, arcade games, and snack bars.  The beach was being refurbished, and portions were closed.  The temperature was near 80 and gorgeous.  We tried our hand at some slot machines.  Although there are penny, nickel, and quarter machines (as well as higher denominations), the slots take only bills if you don't have a casino "rewards" card, and the smallest amount it accepts is $5.   Bob also tried 3 card poker, with Sherri's assistance.  Needless to say, we didn't come away winners.  It was a fun afternoon and great to see Anne & Sherri, but I don't think either Bob or I will be sorry if we don't get to Atlantic City again.
