Avon Pier Avon NC May 8 2012

Well, Bob went to see a doctor today, and good thing.  His cold was getting worse and the doc said untreated it would have turned into bronchitis in a day or two.  Bob got a script for heavy duty antibiotics to take for 10 days.  Later in the afternoon, he was feeling somewhat better, but not enough to play tourist.  However, he did drive me over to the Avon Pier so I could see what it was like.  More beautiful beach scenery, surfers, and  folks fishing.  One guy caught a small shark and said he had gotten a 7 foot hammerhead earlier in the day.  The pier is about 600 feet long.  Walking on it is like being on an amusement park ride or on the tilting floor of the fun house in and of itself.  You can see in the photos how bowed the planks are.  The ocean is not the only thing with waves!  It was very weird walking on it, especially with the sound and feel of the waves cresting underneath me.  I don't think it would be a good idea to be on it if you had too much to drink.
