Under sunny, blue skies, we left The Sands of Time heading to Cheriton, VA, to an RV park called Cherrystone on the Chesapeake Bay. As we neared the state line, it was raining, although it appeared the worst of the storm had passed. That was a good thing, as we were on a route to cross the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Bridge, which spans 23 miles over the bay. It was the third time I'd been on it, and Bob's first. It is an amazing structure...two lane divided bridge-way which scales down to one lane each way through the two tunnels. I am still in awe of how this was engineered. Rain is forecast for all day, with clearing tomorrow. Our campsite is right on the shore with spectacular views of the bay, even in the rain.

On a clearer day, as the road bends, you could see the break in the bridge where the second tunnel is.
