On the left is Whiskey Dam outside of Shasta and on the right is the Trinity River, both along scenic byway route 299 through the Shasta-Trinity National Forest on our way to Eureka.

    Oh boy! We took 299 from Eureka to Reading, CA (next to Mt. Shasta) and it was a twisty, windy, steep incline that took our breath away a few times. We'e glad you made it! Enjoy the redwoods.
