We left Washington State..at one point we were only 28 miles from the Canadian border just before we entered the panhandle of Idaho. We were on the "Trail of Wild Horses" and "Historic River Passage" as we traveled along Rte 20. The scenery was gorgeous, with lots of lakes, woods and meadows. We then took route 2 into Montana, where the time changed back to Mountain Standard Time, and we lost an hour. We decided to stop just outside of Troy, MT, at a nicely wooded park within walking distance of the Koontenai River. The temperature finally hit the low 70's, and the wind quit blowing. It was great weather. Our next stop will be Glacier National Park, but we found out the Road to the Sun, the route that goes from the west to the east through the park, is closed at the center due to 50 feet of snow drifts! The park had opened June 15th, but had to close again due to another snowfall last week. We will spend one night on the west side and tour that part of the park, then head to the east side to see that piece. At least, that's the plan as of now.
