That is right, 14% grade, wow, talk about steep. Until today we had not seen anything over 6%. When we saw the 8% this morning we thought that was steep, not so at all. We did have a little problem as the brakes were getting too hot so we pulled over to let them cool down twice altogether, this was only the first of several 14% grades we hit today. This was the longest as most were only a mile or so. We would go down a 1,000 feet then back up a 1,000 feet in a lot of places. The area above the road was so narrow that there was only a small shoulder on each side of the road. Patricia was riding holding onto the door handle with one hand and the console with the other, eyes closed most of the time.
