At Neahkahnie Beach, legend has it that a Spanish galleon wrecked on shore. The native Indians said the men in the "huge canoe" buried boxes at the foot of the mountain. Some artifacts have been found, but the treasure never has. Understandable, considering what the mountain looked like!
